An in-home newborn session in Birmingham captures your baby’s first days in the comfort of your own home. These relaxed, lifestyle photo sessions focus on family moments, tiny details, and cozy nursery settings, in the place your baby will spend their first weeks, without the stress of packing up and traveling to a studio.
Preparing for Your In-Home Newborn Session
Contrary to what you might beleive your house does not have to be immaculate or huge for a beautiful newborn session in your home. There are a few key things you’ll need:
Good light from at least 1 window source: Your entire house does not have to be well lit. If you have one good window to use we can create beautiful images. This session took place entirely in one small corner of their house except for the 1 crib shot.
Clear extra clutter: Move laundry or clutter out of the main shooting areas like the master bedroom and nursery. I promise I won’t look in your closets. Just shove all the extra stuff out of the way.
Warmth: A warm room, along with a fed baby, is key to a successful newborn session. Choose 1 outfit for baby to stay in for the entire session so they don’t wake up during changings. This can upset them and will slow down the session.
What to Expect During Your In-Home Newborn Session
Relaxed pacing: Sessions take around two hours to allow plenty of time for feeding, burping, and soothing.
Natural posing: You will be guided into comfortable positions throughout your home.
Family involvement: Older siblings and family pets are welcome to join in for sweet, candid portraits.
