As a newborn photographer in Birmingham AL I have the privilege of photographing quite a few babies with full heads of hair. A first for me, however, was photographing a 2.5 week old who who didn’t fuss the entire 2 hour session. She was content however we photographed her and with whoever was holding her.
When I arrive at your home I will check out the lighting in the rooms you would like to use and make suggestions for the best areas. Great lighting is key for quality images that are true to my light an airy style.
If baby is content I will start with a few images of him or her by themselves and then add in siblings and the rest of the family. Baby determines the entire flow of your session. As a newborn photographer in Birmingham AL I want baby and you to be comfortable and not feel the flow of your day has to be interrupted for me. If baby wants to eat they eat. If baby wants to sleep they sleep.
Younger babies (3 weeks and under) are often not very content being unwrapped. For this reason I bring a selection of neutral colored, tight and loose swaddles to your session. If you have something you would like me to use I will use that instead. My goal is to photograph baby unwrapped for at least a few shots. If they’re less tolerable to being unwrapped I will save this for the end of your session.
Because I do not photograph babies in props like buckets and baskets I will, often utilize the parents bed and baby’s crib for a series of images. I will, also, bring a moses basket to your session.
Along with swaddles and wraps diaper covers and white onsies are also available for use during your session. This sweet girl wore some ruffled bloomers I bought at the Lili Pad in Cahaba Heights, AL.
