Studio Newborn Session with Sibling

These sessions always pull at my heart strings while watching the bonds of siblings take center stage. Recently, I had the pleasure of hosting a light and bright studio newborn session featuring an adorable little boy with his enthusiastic, big sister. The result? Preparing the Siblings for the Session
Photographing young children alongside a newborn requires a bit of preparation to keep things running smoothly. Before the session, I share tips with parents to help the older siblings feel excited and included. Some of these tips included:
- Talking About the Session: Explaining to the older siblings what to expect helps them feel more comfortable and engaged. We encouraged parents to frame it as a fun activity.
- Bringing Comfort Items: Whether it’s a favorite stuffed animal or a small snack, familiar items can help siblings relax in the studio.
- Scheduling Around Nap and meal Times: Ensuring everyone is well-rested and fed makes a world of difference in maintaining happy and cooperative little ones.
During the session
During your session siblings are encouraged to take breaks. My adjacent sitting room provides with with a great place to have a snack and enjoy playing with the, provided, toys.
When they’re involved in photographs I love to let them play with baby and be themselves while, also, coaxing them into relaxed poses in between moments.
