Preparing for your Spring Photo Session – Birmingham, AL Photographer

Choosing clothing for your family photo session in Birmingham can be time consuming and frustrating. There’s shopping for the perfect outfit for you and then coordinating the rest of your family which, often, involves more shopping.

If you’re like me it’s a task you probably don’t enjoy.  That’s why I love to offer you the option to borrow something from my client closet, shop for you or even help you coordinate items you already own so it doesn’t have to be time consuming or frustrating. Contact me and let me know what kind of help you need.

If you want to style yourself or need help with the direction the tips below will help me provide you with images that are flattering, beautiful and true to my style.

  1. Decide whether you want a dressy, causally romantic or relaxed feel
  2. Choose 2-3 colors and mix with neutrals like white, cream, tan and grey. My locations, style and editing work best with pastels and neutrals. White is always the best neutral to mix in in the spring.
  3. Choose comfortable fabrics in a mix of solids and dainty prints that fit well and accentuate your best features
  4. Choose knee-length or long dresses or pants for girls.
  5. Choose pants for men. Shorts are fine for boys.
  6. Consider flowy materials that provide movement.
  7. Choose complimentary, non-bulky accessories
  8. Manicure your nails
  9. Wear a little more makeup and a darker lipstick than usual.
  10. If shoes and socks are necessary choose ones that blend with your pants or skin color.

  1. Bright and Dark colors like Red and Orange or Black, Navy and Dark Green
  2. Large prints, large stripes and checks, logos and graphics
  3. Clothing that bunches or wrinkles easily or doesn’t fit well
  4. Large hairbows
  5. White socks and white shoes
  6. Jeans that look well worn or threadbare
