Everybody knows choosing clothing for your family photo session is often very time consuming. There's shopping for the perfect outfit for you and then coordinating the rest of your family which, often, involves more shopping.  And you all know Spring in Birmingham can throw us for a loop so you have to prepare for cold and hot weather.

If you're like me that can be a daunting task that you probably don't enjoy.  That's why I love to offer you the option to borrow something from my client closet, shop for you or even help you coordinate items you already own.

Tell me what color scheme you're looking for along with sizes, budget and your general style and leave the rest to me.

I suggest khaki's and light colored pants or a lighter wash jean.
Consider what mom is wearing and go from there.  If mom is in a romantic dress khaki's are your best option.

A simple t-shirt, polo or button up are all great shirt choices.

Remember to match socks to pants and wear shoes that aren't eye catching.

I am a big fan of dresses for little girls.  It's often comfortable for them and looks great in every setting.

Rompers are a great option for babies who aren't walking.  This keeps us from having to worry whether their diaper is showing.

Shoes are optional.  If wearing shoes choose one's that aren't eye catching. Browns and tans are a great choice.

Keep in mind how your clothing fits.  Does it hide what you don't want to show and look great in a variety of positions?

Wear a little more makeup than usual and don't skip out on mascara and lipstick.

Manicure hands and feet.

Shoes are optional.  If you do wear shoe consider ones that aren't eye catching.  Browns and tans are a great choice.

What you wear for your portrait session determines the entire feel of the session.

Whether you want to dress up for a more romantic feel or be more casual, following my tips below will help me provide you with images that are flattering, beautiful and true to my style.

WHAT to wear

What to bring

A hairbrush and lip color are always handy.  If it's humid smoothing cream or hairspray can be helpful, too.

Most of my sessions will require a little bit of walking.  Consider bringing comfortable walking shoes and changing when we arrive at the photo spot.

Dry snacks and water are great to have for young children and babies.  If you must bring a candy bribe choose things like smarties over chocolate or candies that can stain.

I will let you know if a stroller is a good idea.

After your session I will select the best images from your session and edit each one to fine tune details and remove distractions like unwanted facial blemishes and stray hairs.
High-resolution, digital images will be delivered to you via online link within 2 weeks of your session.  You will be asked to approve these images and request edits before I will enable downloading.

If you are unhappy with the results of your session and would like to request a session do-over you will have 1 week from delivery to request the do-over.
